If you are a finance professional with an MBA and a few years of market research behind you, SBI has a short but well-paid opening for you. The bank has released advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/26 for 7 Specialist Cadre Officer posts in its markets team, and the last date to register and pay the fee is 23 November 2026.

This post walks you through the two roles, the vacancy split, fee, age limits, the experience SBI wants, how the interview-only selection works and how to apply without getting stuck on document uploads. All facts come from the official SBI notification.

Vacancy details

Both posts are regular (not contract) jobs with Mumbai as the indicative place of posting. SBI calls the vacancy count provisional, so it can change.

Post Grade Vacancies Category split
Chief Manager (Product & Research, Forex & Rupee Derivatives) SMGS-IV 1 UR 1
Manager (Product & Research Analyst) MMGS-III 6 SC 1, OBC 2 (1 backlog), UR 3
Total 7

Each post also has one horizontal PwBD (VI-LV) vacancy, which means it sits inside the numbers above rather than on top of them.

What the job involves

The Chief Manager builds and gets approval for new derivative products, tracks interest rates and the wider economy, writes product notes and risk disclosures, briefs top management and mentors junior staff. The Manager does the research side: fundamental and technical work on equities, forex and debt, financial models, valuation reports and research notes that feed client products. SBI says the final KRAs may be fixed after selection.

Application fee and pay scale

Category Fee
General / EWS / OBC Rs 750
SC / ST / PwBD Nil

The fee is non-refundable and is paid online through internet banking, debit card or credit card.

The pay scales printed in the notice are:

  • Chief Manager: Rs 102300-2980/4-114220-3360/2-120940
  • Manager: Rs 85920-2680/5-99320-2980/2-105280

On top of basic pay you get DA, HRA, CCA, provident fund, NPS, LFC and medical facilities as per bank rules. The notice does not give an in-hand figure, so ignore any exact monthly salary you see quoted elsewhere.

Age limit

Age is counted as on 30 September 2026.

  • Chief Manager: 30 to 40 years
  • Manager: 24 to 36 years

Relaxation is 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) and 5 years for SC/ST. PwBD (VI-LV) candidates get 10 years (UR), 13 years (OBC) or 15 years (SC). You cannot stack relaxations.

Eligibility

  • MBA, PGDM, PGDBM, PGDBA or equivalent from a recognised institution (mandatory for both posts)
  • Finance specialisation is preferred
  • CFA, FRM, CA or CMA is a plus, not a requirement
  • Chief Manager: at least 7 years of post-qualification experience in Forex and Rupee markets
  • Manager: at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in equity, forex or debt research
  • Good spoken and written English

Experience is counted after your MBA

Only post-qualification experience counts, and teaching or training experience is not counted at all. If most of your research work happened before your MBA or PGDM, check your numbers against the 30 September 2026 cut-off before you pay the fee.

Selection process

There is no written exam. It is a two-stage process.

  1. ShortlistingSBI screens applications on qualification and experience. Meeting the minimum bar does not guarantee an interview call.
  2. InterviewShortlisted candidates face an interview of 100 marks.
  3. Merit listFinal merit is based only on interview marks. If two candidates tie at the cut-off, the older one ranks higher.

Interview will carry 100 marks.SBI Advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/26, selection process

Since the interview decides everything, your resume does a lot of the work at the shortlisting stage. List the products, desks and markets you have covered with dates, not just job titles.
